Also on the higher end of the vegan spectrum is this charming Prenzlauer Berg venue. The ambitious vegan chef Josita Hartanto works her vegetable magic to create exciting seasonal menus. Go a la carte or opt for one of the two tasting menus with wine pairing (3 or 5 courses). The five course menu comes with a very accessible price tag of 85 Euro. Cookies Cream

Last but certainly not least, how about a veggie dinner with a Michelin star? Cookies Cream is sophisticated warehouse dining that will make you feel that special Berlin cool and is sure to please even the most sophisticated vegetarian and carnivore alike. I mean, if it’s good enough for George Clooney it’s good enough for you and me, right?

One of the best known personalities in Berlin’s gastronomy scene ‘Cookie’ Heinz Gindullis founded the legendary Cookies Club in 1994, which was to shape Berlin’s nightlife for 20 years. Himself a vegetarian since the age of eight, he then opened Cookies Cream in 2007.

When Cookies Cream opened, chef Stephan Hentschel was 25 years old and has since served as Head Chef. In order to elicit as many flavors as possible from vegetables, Stephan experimented with various techniques like fermenting or baking in salt crust. Chef Hentschel’s cuisine was awarded its first Michelin Star in 2017. More importantly though, he and his team have blazed the trail for the Berlin vegetarian food scene.

Kohlrabi with pea and tomato. I dare you to resist! Safe to say, this place will impress both vegans and omnivores alike.

That Special Berlin Cool

In warmer season their ingredients are freshly harvested from a friendly farm in Krielow/Brandenburg, while during autumn and winter preserving and fermenting is the focus. The menu changes in accordance with the seasons and focuses on regional products. Which is why Cookies Cream is worth visiting over and over again.

Don’t miss their wine pairings by sommeliers Jan Wienecke and Camille Darroux. Their extensive wine list features interesting niche wines partly made from indigenous grape varieties, bio dynamic cultivation, as well as lightly filtered natural wines. It includes up-and-coming wine growing regions such as Slovenia, Georgia, Moravia, Austria and, of course, Germany.
