What Makes Indian Burritos Unique?

Imagine tender tandoori paneer (Indian soft cheese) alongside flavorful chana masala (spiced chickpeas), and perhaps a touch of cooling raita (yogurt sauce), all wrapped up snugly in a tortilla (or naan!). The result? A harmonious blend of flavors that offers a local twist on both Indian cuisine and the beloved burrito.

Where to Find Best Indian Burritos in Los Angeles:

Bombay Frankie, Culver City

The OG Indian Burrito in Los Angeles. Featured on ABC7 & Los Angeles Daily Times, Bombay Frankie redefines SoCal fast food. Using the freshest ingredients, they claim to craft experiences, not just meals. Sure enough, it’s the closest we found in LA that makes you feel like you’re eating authentic Mumbai street food. (A Bombay Frankie is a thing in that part of India, fyi).

Vegetarian and vegans rejoice, as last time we checked there were 4 veggie burrito options on the menu, and every vegetarian one can be veganized upon request. Choose from: aloo gobi, shahi paneer, chana masala and tandoori paneer. Each one comes with hummus, veggies and jeera potatoes. Most comforting part? Instead of your typical flour tortilla the “frankies” are wrapped in naan! Run, don’t walk!

Find it in Westfield Culver City. Photos from a previous, somewhat legendary by now location, inside of a gas station in West LA.

IndiMex Eats, Hollywood

Not to be confused with Zara’s parent company, the name says it all. This unassuming little joint, hidden next to a gas station, serves up Indian Mexican fusion at its finest. IndiMex Eats offers home cooking style with prices to match and generous servings of two of the most comforting cuisines we can think of.

The menu consists of mostly Indian classics, but there is a dedicated Indian-Mexican section. Expect quesadilla with masala sauce and paneer tacos. Our favorite though is the Chana Burrito: flour tortilla stuffed with rice, garbanzo beans, tomato, onions and kidney beans, mixed with Indian spices. Served with mint and tamarind sauce. To die for!

Find them on Cahuenga Blvd in Hollywood.

23rd Street Cafe Indian Restaurant, USC/DTLA

Simple spot serves Mexican, Indian & American fare, plus fusion options such as paneer tikka breakfast burritos! You heard that right! It’s the only venue of the three that serves every Angeleno’s favorite morning food, loaded with comforting hash browns alongside masala spices. The perfect fusion if you ask us. Indeed, at 23rd Street Cafe you can order both chips and guac AND papadums and chutney. Only in LA?
