Sushi has traveled the world with me. She has the perfect name. And she’s the real inspiration behind my new food travel children’s book: Sushi’s Adventures Around the World in 80 Flavors.
It’s the companion project to my travel and culinary platform Around the World in 80 Flavors — inspired by Anthony Bourdain.
It felt like a natural progression: a children’s book about a curious little chihuahua named Sushi who travels the world in a hot air balloon with her human Gaby, trying traditional foods from across the globe.
When one reviewer called it “an essential read for blossoming Bourdains,” I honestly teared up. Because that’s the heart of the book: The world doesn’t need taller fences — it needs longer tables.
