Tesla Diner Review: Best Veggie Burger in LA?!
I’ll admit it: as a proud Jeep owner, I’ve never been particularly interested in the cult of Tesla.
My only real exposure to the brand usually comes from Elon Musk doing something outrageous enough to dominate X or Reddit.
But as an LA-based mostly plant-based foodie constantly chasing the next great veggie burger, curiosity got the better of me — and that’s how I found myself pulling into the infamous Tesla Diner in Los Angeles.
I walked in fully prepared to roll my eyes. Instead, I walked out mildly obsessed.

Best Veggie Burger in LA?
Let’s start with the star of the show: the mushroom burger. Without exaggeration, this is the best veggie burger I’ve eaten in LA in a long time — and that’s saying a lot.
The mushroom itself is thick, juicy, and shockingly meaty, with a perfectly crisp panko crust that somehow manages to stay light rather than greasy.
The bun is exactly what a burger bun should be: soft but structured, fluffy yet strong enough to hold everything together.
And then there’s the sauce. It’s brownish, slightly truffle-y, peppery, savory, and utterly addictive. I have no idea what’s in it, but I swear it should come with a warning label.
It’s the kind of sauce you keep thinking about hours later. The kind you’d happily eat with a spoon if nobody were watching.

New Fry Kid On The Block
The fries deserve their own paragraph — because wow. Crispy, golden, perfectly salted, and clearly cooked with care.
I don’t say this lightly: these fries easily beat the big fast-food names like In-N-Out Burger, KFC, and Burger King.
There’s a new fast-food fry kid on the block, and it’s parked right there. Sushi the Chihuahua approves.
Peggy Sue Meets The Jetsons
Now, let’s talk about the diner itself — because yes, it’s weird as hell. The whole place feels like Peggy Sue’s Diner collided with The Jetsons.
There’s a drive-in cinema screen where you can watch movies while charging your car, and sipping on milkshakes, which is honestly genius.
Every corner is packed with hyper-specific design details that will delight anyone who appreciates thoughtful branding.
We’re talking Cybertruck-shaped takeout boxes. Tesla coloring sheets for kids. Bag hooks at each seat designed to look exactly like Tesla door handles.
It’s cheeky, polished, and extremely self-aware. I went in expecting corporate gimmicks and left impressed by how playful and meticulous everything felt.

More From The Tesla Menu
Beyond the mushroom burger, the menu leans classic American diner: cheeseburgers, shakes, grilled cheese, tuna melt, even chicken and waffles.
Then there’s an all-day breakfast lineup with breakfast tacos, biscuits and gravy, and the now-famous “epic” bacon.
Musk reportedly insisted that nothing makes the menu unless it qualifies as “epic.”
Tesla Diner Review: Final Bite
For once, the hype might actually be justified. Because that mushroom burger? Truly epic indeed.
I fully expected to be weirded out by this place. Instead, I loved it — and yes, I’ll absolutely be back to try more.
Most likely arriving in my Jeep.
